Our Approach
Lowitzki Consulting approaches government relations in a way that emphasizes hard work, honesty, and relationships. Our credibility, and in turn our success, comes from being able to build trust with our clients, elected officials, and state officials. Every client is different, and we work to ensure that your specific needs are met in an effective way. The following principles guide our work:
- You're the expert - The client knows what the client needs. Our job is to give you advice and help where you want it. We will do everything necessary - research background, facts, opponents, etc - to be prepared to assist you with your needs. You know what you want and need, and we know how to help you get there.
- Relationships - Politics is local, and politics is personal. In turn, relationships matter. Whether those relationships are with elected officials, state agency administrators, or legislative staff, it impacts how legislation and policies are drafted and move through the process. We focus on developing relationships in all areas. We have strong relationships with legislators - Senators and Representatives, Democrats and Republicans, legislative staff, state agency directors and staff, and Governor's office officials. But not only do we focus on relationships with government officials, we also emphasize the need to have strong relationships with our clients. We prefer to work as a team, where we can bounce ideas off of each other and work together to advance the needs of the client.
- Policy and budget knowledge - Simply, policy matters. Being able to speak about policy and details enables us to be successful. One of the strengths that we bring to our clients is our knowledge of policy and budgets. This knowledge allows to "get in the weeds" on our clients' issues, assisting and advising the clients, but also to truly engage with and negotiate policies that matter with government officials. We can supplement the knowledge that our clients bring to an issue, and work together to push the most effective policies.
- Grassroots campaigns - "Inside baseball" government relations is not the only way to move policy and legislation. You can often supplement work being done in the capitol with work being doing outside the capitol. We have knowledge and experience implementing grassroots campaigns to help legislators see that the issues that our clients care about are also issues that constituents care about.
